ALBUM REVIEW: Mariah Carey's E=MC²

The diva herself, Mariah Carey, has come hard yet again with a solid album called E=MC². Her last album, The Emancipation of Mimi, goes down in my book as classic Mariah and this one follows up in a more contemporary manner. The album is full of slaps, dance hits, chick tunes, usual ballads, and some folkish tunes. 14 tracks and I'd say about 6 or 7 are worthy of airplay.

My favorite track is "I'm That Chick," a song about being that girl who some dude has a crush on. Sounds like Ne-Yo produced it and I don't know who wrote it because she starts it off saying "Like Pac, All Eyez On Me," but then again, she is infamous for quoting lines like that. Another track I liked is the one on her perfume commercial, "For the Record," but as you get deeper in the song, its pretty sick. The slapper of the album is a song called "Migrate" featuring T-Pain. I was also pleased to notice a reggae undertone in one of her songs, and low and behold, Damien Marley guests on the track.

Get your hands on this album because overall, its a well-rounded sound with much entertainment value. The way she rocks slow beats with her sensual sound and double-time rhythms will keep you bobbin your head, to say the least. Had a chance to see this diva in Vegas at Pure and it was an experience like no other, even though she was just chillin!!! Next I'd loooove to see her perform LIVE...

CONCERT REVIEW: GLOW IN THE DARK TOUR.

Pictures to come.

But....let me say. This was the best money I've spent on any show, hands down. The Glow in the Dark tour was on some other shit, something you definitely need to see in your lifetime. Rihanna was a fuckin' gem. That girl really has star power and diva poise that is going to send her career soaring. Her choreography was on point, her hair was flawless, and her costumes, were, umm... interesting?! She's hot and you've got to experience her live show to truly appreciate her work.

Kanye brings concert-going to a whole new level with this tour. Working off some sort of Broadway or even film schematics, the show felt like a movie or play and had the entire audience mesmerized from beginning to end. (The only part I didn't enjoy so much was the 3 part "Good Life" portion, because I despise that song.) He played his "character" well and stuck to the theme to a tee. His stage was ridiculously genius and the visuals with the digital backdrop made it so visually pleasing to the audience that at some points, you weren't sure where to look. Set design gets an A+.

I was also happy that HP Pavillion staff wasn't trippin off the cheeba either. Last Kanye tour (Touch the Sky) they were not havin it; quite different this time around. Enjoying the show blasted made it that much more stimulating. I had to sit down and catch my breath sometimes; it was that breathtaking.

I strongly recommend checking out this show. The tour comes back June 6th for a second round of Glow in the Dark action. So if you missed out, you've got another chance to see KANYE THE FUCKING BEAST again. Do it, you really need to for life's sake.

Overall review: Glow in the Dark Tour gets an A!

RIVALS

Kinda weird how there was a jump in numbers for our podcast in the cities that hindered the Warriors from a postseason chance. Warriors lost to Denver and Phoenix which ultimately cost them a trip to the playoffs, and its weird how we have gained listeners there.

KIDSBEER?

This was actually featured in my Business & Society Textbook as an ethical issue...
Check it out:

Kidsbeer, a nonalcoholic brew aimed at children, are growing rapidly.

Kidsbeer, a nonalcoholic brew aimed at children, is catching on with young drinkers and is posting monthly shipments of 75,000 bottles, according to maker Tomomasu Co.

The beverage, one of whose ingredients is the Latin American plant guarana, sells for around 380 yen per 330-milliliter bottle. The bottles themselves are colored brown to make the drink look even more like its more potent counterpart, the company said.

The drink started out as Guarana, a cola beverage that used to be sold at the Shitamachi-ya restaurant in Fukuoka, run by 39-year-old Yuichi Asaba.

Asaba renamed the sweet carbonated drink Kidsbeer, a move that made it an instant hit.

Asaba outsourced its production to Tomomasu, a beverage maker based in Ogi, Saga Prefecture.

Tomomasu tinkered with the drink by decreasing its sweetness and increasing its frothiness, the company said. It began shipping the transformed drink in late 2003.

Though the initial shipment was only 200 bottles per month, the beverage was soon adopted by other restaurants and even by department stores, which began offering it as a gift package.

Asaba said kids and other people "can raise a glass with this, even if they cannot drink any liquor."

Satoshi Tomoda, president of the beverage maker, said: "Children copy and mimic adults.

"If you get this drink ready on such occasions as events and celebrations attended by kids, it would make the occasions even more entertaining."

The Kidsbeer label captures a nostalgic mood as it was modeled after classic beer labels.

"Even kids cannot stand life unless they have a drink," reads the product's advertising slogan.

JAPAN RULES!!!!!

SUPER HIGH.

"Determined to find out the true effects of marijuana on the human body, stand-up comedian and former Stoner of the Year Doug Benson documents his experience avoiding pot for 30 days and then consuming massive amounts of the drug for 30 days. More than just an amusing story of one man's quest to get superhigh, this documentary also examines the hotly contested debate over medical marijuana use."

Over the weekend, RBC was in effect spinning at two spots on Saturday night. At Mega's going-away shindig at Azul, Rube played "I LUV YOUR GIRL" by The Dream.

Check out the lyrics, its funny as hell. Quite bastos if you ask me.
Homeboy's talkin bout dancin with someone else's girl at the club and so on...
The song is catchy and I didn't like it when I'd hear it on the radio in the car, but when that shit DUMPS IN A CLUB, you can't help but dance. I like it now :)
